According to the World Health Organisation, a lack of water to meet daily needs is a reality for one in three people around the world. Also in the farming industry this problem is very evident. Over the last few years, farmers from over the whole world have been forced to destroy significant parts of their crops, because they do not have enough water to grow it all.
As an important part of the solution to this problem, we have developed the SkyDowser. The SkyDowser is an autonomous drone that maps the contents of the subsoil. Consequently it is able to detect and measure groundwater levels, providing valuable 3-dimensional data to customers in water stressed regions. Furthermore, the SkyDowser may be used for dyke and dune surveillance.
The SkyDowser is currently being developed by a small team in the Netherlands.
The SkyDowser is able to take-off and land on any terrain. It is launched by a catapult and lands using a parachute. This allows it to operate in the most extreme environments.
The SkyDowser will be able to fly autonomously, and is controlled by an opensource autopilot. Nevertheless seasoned and certified SkyDowser Pilots will fly it!
